The ProForm 680 is a treadmill intended primarily for home use. The device's features include a 2.8 horsepower motor, a dual-grip heart rate monitor, integrated support for iPod music players and a built-in studio sound system. The ProForm 680 is also equipped with a 20-inch by 55-inch walking surface designed to accommodate a maximum weight of 300 lbs. Should the walking deck on your ProForm 680 break or show signs of wear, you can install a replacement using some basic tools.
Step 1
Remove the three screws and hood clips located on the front side of the motor hood. Lift the motor hood and motor hood accent off the treadmill's base; set both components aside. Use the Allen wrench to remove the adjustment bolts and washers from the rear of treadmill.
Step 2
Remove the four screws securing the left side rail to the treadmill's base, then remove the rail. Repeat with the right side rail. Remove the bolt securing the front roller to the treadmill's base. Pull the drive belt free of the front roller, then extract the roller from the walking belt. Remove the idler roller from the opposite end of the walking deck.
Step 3
Remove the four bolts securing the treadmill's deck to the frame. Remove the deck and extract it from the walking belt. Slide the replacement deck into the belt. Line the holes on the deck with the mounting points on the frame, then replace the previously removed bolts.
Step 4
Reinstall the front and idler rollers into the walking belt; bolt the front roller to the base. Slide the drive belt over the front roller; turn the roller by hand to confirm that the drive belt will not slip. Turn the idler roller until the holes for the adjustment bolts are facing the rear of the treadmill.
Step 5
Return the side rails to their original locations; use the previously removed screws to secure them to the base. Use the Allen wrench to reinstall the rear adjustment bolts; do not tighten the bolts completely. Replace the motor hood and motor hood accent, then reinstall the three hood clips and screws.
Step 6
Lift the treadmill's walking belt and apply silicone lubricant across the center of the treadmill's deck. Remove the slack from the walking belt by turning the adjustment bolts. Insert the treadmill's safety key into the console and press the "Start" button; allow the belt to run undisturbed for five to ten minutes. Remove the safety key and use the adjustment bolts to realign the walking belt, if necessary.
