Cybex produces a recumbent bike designed for users of all fitness levels; these devices are built upon a welded steel frame and come equipped with a console containing preset workout programs, a self-tensioning drive belt and a crank system modeled after the pedals used on mountain bikes. While the device is designed to be low-maintenance, occasionally one of the components may wear out. Installing a new component may help to restore your Cybex recumbent bike to working order.
Belt Replacement
Step 1
Disconnect the recumbent bicycle's AC adapter, if installed. Kneel down next to the right pedal and remove the screws securing the top cover to the base unit. Remove the cover and set it aside. Remove the screws securing the right shroud to the base unit. Disengage the right shroud from the base unit, then shift the component free of the right pedal.
Step 2
Pull the flywheel belt free from the flywheel, then disengage the belt from the small pulley to the right of the flywheel. Lift the belt free of the right pedal and set it aside. Fit the replacement belt over the right pedal, then place it onto the flywheel. Pull one end of the belt under the roller to the right of the flywheel. Fit the end of the belt onto the small pulley.
Step 3
Fit the right shroud over the right pedal and use the previously removed screws to secure it into place. Replace the top cover and use the previously removed screws to secure it to the base unit. Reconnect the AC adapter, if installed.
Console Repair
Step 1
Remove the screws securing the top cover, front-left cover and front-right cover to the recumbent bicycle. Remove the covers and set them aside. Remove the bolts securing the upright to the base of the bicycle. Lift up the upright and disconnect the cable attached to the bottom end.
Step 2
Remove any bolts or screws securing the console to the upright. Remove the screws securing the console's cover in place. Lift the cover free and set it aside.
Step 3
Locate the component you intend to replace. Remove the screws securing the faulty component to the console unit and disconnect any attached cables. Remove the faulty component and install the new component in its place. Reconnect any previously disconnected cables and use the previously removed screws to secure the component in place.
Step 4
Replace the cover and use the previously removed screws to secure it back into place. Reattach the console to the upright with the previously removed bolts or screws. Connect the wires protruding from the bottom of the upright to those located at the top of the base unit. Bolt the upright onto the base unit.
Step 5
Replace the front-right cover, front-left cover and top cover and secure them to the base unit. Reconnect the AC adapter, if installed.
