Based in Seattle, Starbucks started as a coffee house and has grown into a cafe offering numerous food options including hot breakfast. One of the most popular hot breakfast choices is the Perfect Oatmeal. Served in a cardboard-to-go bowl, the whole-grain Perfect Oatmeal is designed to "Make Morning Good Again," according to Starbucks executives.

Calories

One 38-gram serving of Perfect Oatmeal has 140 calories. Carbohydrates contribute 70 percent of the calories with 25 grams of total carbohydrates, 4 grams of dietary fiber and 0 grams of sugar per serving. Fat contributes 16 percent of the calories with only 2.5 grams of total fat per serving. Protein provides the last 14 percent of the calories with 5 grams per serving.

Ingredients

Whole-grain rolled oats are the main ingredient for Perfect Oatmeal, followed by other ingredients that add texture, freshness and taste. The other ingredients include salt, guar gum, calcium carbonate, iron, niacinamide, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) and folic acid.

Nutrients

Perfect Oatmeal contains several vitamins, minerals and nutrients that promote a healthy diet. One serving of oatmeal provides 4 grams of fiber; you can increase that to 7 grams by adding dried fruit or nuts. Other vitamins and minerals in the oatmeal include vitamin A, calcium and iron with 25 percent, 10 percent and 50 percent of the daily recommended intake, respectively.

Starbucks offers several choices for toppings on the Perfect Oatmeal. You can order plain oatmeal or add the brown sugar topping, dried fruit topping or nut medley topping. Each topping adds additional calories and nutrients to the oatmeal.

Starbucks chooses oatmeal ingredients and other breakfast food items from real, whole foods. As a result, Perfect Oatmeal doesn't contain transfats, artificial flavors, artificial dyes or high-fructose corn syrup.
