By following a low-cholesterol diet, you can decrease your chances of gallbladder disease. Eggs especially should be avoided, not only because they contain high levels of cholesterol but also because they may irritate the gallbladder, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
To help lower your cholesterol levels, cook with healthy oils, such as vegetable oil or olive oil. These oils contain fewer trans fats and are lower in cholesterol than mineral oil, peanut oil and sunflower oil. Trans fats are also found in many baked goods, such as pastries, cookies, snack cakes and doughnuts.
Low-Calorie Diet
By consuming a low-calorie diet, you can ensure that you're reducing the amount of fat and cholesterol that you consume. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is a good way to fit in the daily recommended servings of each group, and they make quick, easy snacks. Fruits and vegetables also contain antioxidants, which destroy free radicals and may help ward off gallbladder disease.
