Shampoos labeled as two-in-one products or cheap shampoos can leave a film or buildup on your hair over time. If your shampoo fails to lather, your hair starts to appear dull and dry, feels sticky and gummy or becomes limp and greasy, chances are your hair is suffering from a buildup of shampoo residue.

Step 1

Mix 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water. Pour the mixture through your hair to remove any shampoo residue. Rinse the vinegar mixture from your hair with cool water. You can use this rinse each time you shampoo your hair.

Step 2

Boil 2 cups of water and let four individual serving size green tea bags seep until the water cools to lukewarm. Squeeze the juice from one lemon into the tea. Pour the tea and lemon through your hair and let it set for five minutes. Rinse the mixture from your hair with cool water. Use this rinse once a month.

Step 3

Wash your hair every two weeks with clarifying shampoo that lists acetic acid as an ingredient. Rinse and style your hair normally.

Things You'll Need

  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Individual serving green tea bags
  • Lemon
