Skippy has produced peanut butter since 1933 and has introduced numerous peanut butter products through the years such as the wide-mouth jar, reduced fat peanut butter and a no-stir natural peanut butter. Skippy uses the same basic ingredients in every peanut butter product, but will add or change ingredients to create the specific flavor. As a result, each Skippy peanut butter contains individual nutrition information.

Types

Skippy creamy is the signature peanut butter made from a blend of peanuts, sugar, oils and salt. Super chunk uses a similar recipe to the creamy peanut butter but also contains real peanut pieces. Reduced fat creamy and reduced fat chunky peanut butter have 25 percent less fat than regular peanut butter, while the honey nut peanut butter adds the sweet taste of honey. Skippy natural has a "no need to stir" texture without the added ingredients of the regular peanut butter.

Size

All of the Skippy peanut butter flavors have a 2 tbsp.or 32g serving. Original peanut butter and natural peanut butter--creamy and chunky--contain 190 total calories per serving with 73 percent of the calories from fat, 15 percent from protein and 12 percent from carbohydrates. Reduced fat peanut butter reduces the total calories to 180 per serving and reduces the fat content to 60 percent of the calories.

Considerations

Even with a high amount of total fat in each serving of Skippy peanut butter, there are typically less than 3g of saturated fat per serving. One serving of original creamy peanut butter, for example, contains 16g of total fat but has only 3g of saturated fat and 0mg of cholesterol. The total fat content contributes about 25 percent of the recommended daily intake. Choosing the reduced fat peanut butter, however, can reduce the total fat content to 12g per serving.

Features

Carbohydrate and protein content in Skippy peanut butter ranges from about 3g to 7g per serving. Reduced fat peanut butter contains higher amounts of carbohydrates due to higher sugar content, with 15g of total carbohydrates per serving. Natural and original peanut butter contains 7g of total carbohydrates including 2g of dietary fiber and only 3g of sugars. Every flavor of Skippy peanut butter contains 7g of protein per serving.

Benefits

Skippy peanut butter contains several additional nutrients, vitamins and minerals that benefit healthy body functions. Vitamin E and vitamin B-3 -- niacin -- are the most common vitamins, with 10 percent and 20 percent of the daily recommended intake, respectively. Iron is also found at 4 percent of the daily recommended intake along with only 150mg of sodium for 6 percent of the daily recommended intake.
