Similac Advance with 24 calories is given to infants that need extra calories in order to grow. Most babies require only 20 calories per ounce of formula according to the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. Mixing your baby's formula correctly is important so that your child gets the recommended amount of calories with each bottle.
Single Bottle Preparation
Step 1
Wash your hands and bottle with soap and water. Cleaning your hands before mixing your baby's formula will help keep germs out of your baby's bottle.
Step 2
Pour 5 oz. of water into your baby's bottle. If you are on city water you can use water directly from the tap but if you are using well water you will need to boil the water or purchase bottled water.
Step 3
Measure three unpacked, level scoops of Similac Advance formula. Add the measured formula to your baby's bottle of water.
Step 4
Place the nipple on the bottle and tighten it securely. Place your finger over the opening of the nipple and shake vigorously until the contents are completely mixed.
Large Batch Preparation
Step 1
Wash your hands and the utensils you will need with soap and water. Dry the pitcher and mixing spoon completely.
Step 2
Pour 19.5 oz. of water into a pitcher. You will still need to only use tap water or bottled water and not well water.
Step 3
Measure one unpacked, level cup of Similac Advance. Add the formula to the pitcher. Use a mixing spoon to mix the ingredients until the formula is completely mixed.
Step 4
Place a lid on the pitcher. Put the pitcher in the fridge and throw away any leftover formula after 24 hours.
