Proper daily skin care is an important part of maintaining clear, radiant skin. However breakouts, blemishes and irritation are bound to happen from time to time even with the best of skin care regimens. Luckily, there are treatments that can help you keep your skin clear, vibrant and free of blemishes and marks according to Julia Lawless, author of "The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils: The Complete Guide to The Use of Aromatic Oils In Aromatherapy, Herbalism, Health and Well Being," and Marcel Lavabre, author of "Aromatherapy Workbook."

Essential Oil Blend for Clear Skin

Step 1

Combine ½ tsp. bergamot essential oil, ½ tsp. palmarosa essential oil, ½ tsp. angelica essential oil, ½ tsp. peppermint essential oil, ¼ tsp. myrtle essential oil, ¼ tsp. tolu balsam essential oil, ¼ tsp. elemi essential oil and ¾ cup jojoba oil in a small, dark colored bottle with a tight fitting top.

Step 2

Cover the bottle and shake it gently for 10 to 15 seconds to combine essential oils and jojoba oil.

Step 3

Pour a small amount of the mixture onto a clean cotton pad. Allow the cotton to soak up the oil for 60 seconds.

Step 4

Dab the cotton pad onto areas of the skin being treated. Leave the oil on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes without wiping it off.

Step 5

Rinse your skin with cool clean water and wash with a gentle soap. Pat your skin dry with a clean cotton towel and apply your regular moisturizer.

Step 6

Use this treatment twice per day---once in the morning and once in the evening. Stop using the mixture if it causes extremely dry skin, redness, itching or burning.
