There are numerous studies that show regular facial exercises can improve muscle strength and create a firmer looking visage. By performing exercises that target specific muscles of the face, you not only build facial muscles, which pull the overlying skin tighter, but also increase the supply of blood to the area, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to your skin for a glowing complexion, says Wrinkle-Free-Skin-Tips.com.
Step 1
Place the tips of your middle three fingers under each eyebrow, says Wrinkle-Free-Skin-Tips.com. Use your fingers to push your brows up; then, working against this resistance, try to lower your brows. Hold the contraction for 10 seconds and then relax; complete three sets of 10 repetitions.
Step 2
Apply the same principle as for the eyebrow exercise to your cheeks. Place your three middle fingers on the apples, or the fullest parts, of your cheeks and push them down. Holding your fingers down, use the muscles in your cheeks to move your fingers up by smiling as hard as you can. You should be applying enough resistance to stop you from raising your cheeks as much as you would be able to without the finger pressure. It is important to keep your chin lifted during this exercise. Repeat this exercise at least 10 times.
Step 3
Position your thumb and forefinger just below the corners of your mouth on either side of your chin, says Wrinkle-Free-Skin-Tips.com. Apply pressure with your fingers and then try to smile with a closed mouth against this resistance. Don’t raise the corners of your mouth up; try to stretch them out the sides, towards your ears, as much as possible. Hold the smile for 10 seconds, relax and do three sets of 10 contractions. This exercise helps tighten the muscle around your mouth and tighten the sagging skin that can form along the jaw bone as you age.
