There are literally thousands of acupressure points located all over the human body. When pressure is applied to them, they increase blood flow, improve nerve function and stimulate the release of pleasure-inducing endorphins. Here is a list of some of the major acupressure points located around the body.

Hand Webbing

This is located on the meaty part of the hand between the thumb and index finger. Feel for the space next to the point where the bones meet inside the webbing of the hand. Apply pressure slowly to this acupressure point. You will experience a dull ache. This acupressure point helps relieve pain in the head and back. It also encourages a sense of calm and bliss.

Achilles Tendon

Feel for the acupressure point above the heel. The Achilles tendon is a ridge running from the heel to the calf muscle. Apply pressure to both sides of the acupressure point with two fingers. Be careful. You will feel a pinch of pain. This acupressure point helps the kidneys work better and dispels fearful thoughts.

The hairline contains a series of acupressure points that help relieve headaches and clarify thoughts. Start applying pressure at the temples directly behind the eyes at the side of the head. Work your way toward your forehead along the hairline applying direct pressure inward toward your skull. Stop when you reach the middle or your hairline then work your way back outward.


Acupressure points are located along both sides of the spine from the neck to the pelvis. One of the most effective acupressure points is between the kidneys. These are difficult to reach, so have a friend help you apply pressure. The acupressure points are found on both sides of the spine between the elbows. They relieve tension and back pain.


Acupressure points are also found on both sides of the neck along both sides of the vertebrae. Locate the pockets at the base of the skull where your spine meets your head. Apply pressure inward and upward. Work your way down both sides of the vertebrae until your reach the neck then work your way back up again. These acupressure points are great for relieving stress.
