Permanent scarring of your skin can occur for a variety of reasons including burns, cuts, puncture wounds and acne breakouts. These can be embarrassing, especially when they are in a highly visible place like your face or neck. To remove permanent scars quickly, you must take advantage of modern technology. Chemical peels, laser resurfacing, filler injections and dermabrasion treatments are all feasible methods to get rid of scars fast.

Step 1

Schedule a chemical peel treatment to remove permanent scars. Peels use specialized chemicals to eliminate the outer layers of your skin. Your dermatologist will decide which peel is best based on how superficial or deep the scars are. Phenol chemicals reach the deepest layers, while alpha and beta hydroxys are lighter and less stringent.

Step 2

Use laser treatment surgery as a noninvasive method for pitted and surface scars. MayoClinic.com states that laser treatments affect melanin, which determines color of your skin tone. The treatments banish outer skin layers to smooth out the most visibly affected areas. An added benefit of laser treatments: they help stimulate collagen production, which is necessary for firm skin.

Step 3

Ask your doctor if soft-tissue filler injections are ideal for your type of scars. The most commonly used fillers include: collagen, human- and bovine-fatty tissue. If scars are depressed or have a crater-like appearance, soft tissue fillers can plump them so they are even with the rest of your skin. Fillers are a temporary fix that eventually breaks down. You will likely undergo a series of treatments at least every six months to continuously see results.

Step 4

Ask your dermatologist if dermabrasion may work for you. A sharp, sanding instrument is placed over your permanent scars to eradicate top skin layers. With dermabrasion, you will see permanent results after one treatment. Irritation and swelling may occur after the procedure and may last up to two or three weeks. Once you heal, fresh, scar-free skin is revealed.
