Stomach fat can be the most difficult fat to lose for many people. Men often have an easier time of losing stomach fat than women. Belly fat is also some of the unhealthiest fat you can have on your body, as it is associated with higher rates of heart disease and diabetes. However, exercise and a healthy diet can give you a slimmer waist, a toned tummy and improve your health.

Eat Good Fats

Not all fat is bad. Your body uses fat as a way to boost your metabolism and protect against heart disease. Foods that are high in monounsaturated fats, such as peanut butter, pecans and olives, help the body to burn belly fat. Good fats also help to lower your cholesterol and control food cravings and keep you fuller for longer periods of time.

Eat More Protein

The body uses protein to burn fat and to build muscle. Good sources of protein include protein powder, fish, lean meats, eggs and nuts. With protein powder you can make a shake or simply add two teaspoons to a fruit smoothie to increase its fat-burning abilities. Eggs also contain B-12, which the body uses to process fat. Avocados are also high in fiber, which helps you to lose weight.

Drink Your Tea

White and green teas help to boost your metabolism, which allows you to burn more fat more efficiently. Teas are also high in antioxidants. Antioxidants help to prevent and repair the damage oxygen does to your body. White tea has an antioxidant called epigallocaechin, which protects against cancer. White tea also doesn't go through an oxidation process like other teas.

Eat Your Fiber

Adding fiber to your diet will help you lose weight and give you a flatter stomach. Foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and beans are high in fiber and low in calories. Eating more fiber will decrease your daily caloric intake as well as kill your sugar cravings. Eat your fruit and vegetables raw to boost their fat burning potential.

More Calcium

Calcium is a great fat burner that specifically targets belly fat. Calcium has also been shown to stop fat from forming at all. Adding more dairy to your diet is an easy way to meet your calcium needs. Stick to low-fat dairy products, as they have lower fat content. Other foods that are high in calcium include broccoli, sardines, kale and soy milk.
