The punching bag is a staple in any boxing or martial arts gymnasium, and having one in your home could be an excellent addition to any home gym or workout station. Punching bags let you vent out some serious aggression and can help you work on form and endurance for punches and kicks.

Step 1

Locate the chain and swivel assembly that came with your bag. Every punching bag under 125 lbs. should come with a basic ceiling mount.

Step 2

Find a sturdy mount to attach the eye bolt to your ceiling. A support beam is an ideal place to mount the bag.

Step 3

Climb up your ladder and drill a hole in the place where you want to mount the bag.

Step 4

Insert the eye bolt into the hole you drilled in your ceiling.

Step 5

Attach the chain and swivel to the eye bolt.

Step 6

Attach the chain to the bag.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you have a punching bag that is heavier than 125 lbs., you're going to need to get a heavy bag ceiling mount. You can purchase these anywhere that sells boxing equipment. The only difference with installing these is that there is a steel platform that is mounted to the ceiling with four bolts into which the eye bolt is inserted. The platform helps take some of the weight off of the eye bolt and transfers it into the steel platform.

Things You'll Need
