Pregnancy can be a delightful time in your life, depending upon the symptoms you manifest. In the early stages it is easy to confuse some of the more common symptoms with various health conditions. Regardless of why you think you are nauseous each morning or are experiencing headaches on a daily basis, you should be checked. If the symptoms are a result of pregnancy, the earlier you recognize them, the sooner you can receive prenatal treatment, ensuring the best care for you and your baby.
Changes in Food Tastes
This can go either way; you may either begin craving foods you normally cannot stand, or develop a distaste for foods you used to love. This is due to changing hormones, and this symptom may last throughout your pregnancy.
Headaches
This is a symptom that typically occurs in the early stages of your pregnancy, and is due to an increase in blood circulation from the extra hormones in your body.
Constipation
When progesterone increases in your body, it causes food to pass more slowly through your intestines; this results in constipation. This symptom occurs early on in pregnancy.
Breast Tenderness
This can occur as soon as one to two weeks after conception. You may notice your breasts are swollen or sore to touch. When accompanied with other early symptoms, such as a delayed menstrual cycle, it is a fairly good indication of pregnancy.
Delayed Period
Perhaps the most common symptom of pregnancy, you will typically miss your period the month immediately following conception. In some cases, you may still bleed even though you are pregnant, but your period will generally be shorter and lighter than normal.
Morning Sickness
This is one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy and can begin as soon as two weeks after conception. Some women may not experience this symptom at all, while others go through it for the length of their pregnancy.
