Losing weight fast can happen, but generally losing more than two pounds a week is considered unhealthy and means that you are losing water weight and necessary lean muscle. Drastically cutting your calories is also not good for fast weight loss because this will send your body into starvation mode, where it will decrease your metabolism, making it harder for you to burn calories, reports the Diet Channel.
Wait
Cravings for certain foods generally go away if you give yourself time to forget about them. Wait 20 minutes before giving into a craving. Find something else to do when you have a craving for unhealthy foods. The activity has to be something interactive; watching television will generally not help you forget about your craving. Watching television can actually make it hard for you to forget about a craving because of the significant number of foods that are advertised.
Use Water
Drinking water regularly will help you lose weight. Water keeps you hydrated and energized, which makes you less likely to turn to food for energy. Drink a glass of water when you feel hungry and wait 20 minutes before eating anything. If you are still hungry after 20 minutes, then you should eat a healthy meal or snack. Drinking water before you eat will ensure that your body is not confusing hunger with thirst.
Substitute water for high calorie drinks such as sugary sodas and juices. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, the average sugar soda or juice drink provides you with 150 calories a day.
Drink at least one glass of water between each meal and with each meal. This will help you feel fuller on smaller portions of food.
Focus on Vegetables
Vegetables are packed with fiber and contain minimal amounts of calories. Eating meals that are full of vegetables and snacking on vegetables will keep you feeling full throughout your day. This will help you resist the urge to snack on unhealthy foods. Also, your body will be supplied with a vast amount of nutrients to help it work efficiently.
Get Quality Sleep
Getting quality sleep every night for seven to eight hours can help you lose weight. Sleep provides you with necessary energy to get through the day. When people do not get enough sleep, they often eat more food during the day to make up for the energy they did not get during their sleep.
Leave Food
Leave some food on your plate at each meal. Avoiding eating all your food at every meal will help you significantly cut down on calories. The reduction in calories will result in weight loss.
Intense Exercise
The more intense the exercise you engage in, the more calories you burn, but before starting any exercise routine it is important to work your way up to more intense forms of exercise. This will help reduce your chances of experiencing setbacks due to injuries. Get in 45 to 60 minutes of aerobic exercise every day to lose weight quickly. Avoid doing the same exercise every day. Try doing a combination of aerobic exercises in every workout, such as 15 minutes of three or four different exercises.
