Epilators have been around since the 1980s, when an Israeli company invented electric tweezers, now known as epilators. The invention was a huge success, which provoked many other companies to put their own versions of the device on the market. Epilators have been in demand because they're quick, simple and effective at removing hair from the body and face. The results last much longer than shaving, because the hair is pulled directly from the root.

Braun 5270 Silk-épil X'elle Body System Epilator

The Braun 5270 Silk-épil X'elle can remove even fine hairs, according to the manufacturer's website. It has a built-in light, allowing it to expose the lightest and finest hairs, so you don't miss any problem hairs. This epilator also has what the manufacturer calls SoftLift tips, which are designed to help raise hairs that lie flat on the skin. It claims to be able to remove hairs as short as 0.5 mm. This device can be purchased at Walmart and Bed Bath and Beyond for around $65.

Emjoi Epi Slim Cosmetic Hair Remover

The Emjoi Epi Slim is a smaller, less bulky epilator that is meant for more delicate areas like the face, bikini and armpits. Features include a compact design for easy portability, gentle tweezing for sensitive areas, and the manufacturer claims that this epilator has the highest number of tweezes per minute compared to other epilators. This device can be purchased from the manufacturer's website for $19.99.

Panasonic Wet/Dry Epiglide™ Ultra Epilator

The Panasonic Epiglide Ultra has a similar design to men's electric razors and can be used both wet and dry. It uses three 360-degree spinning heads that were designed to cover a large area in a short time, and to be able to remove hairs growing in any direction. The Epiglide Ultra boasts a nickel-free and hypo-allergenic free design to reduce irritation to the skin. This device can be purchased from the manufacturer's website for around $59.95.
