The healthiest ways to lose unwanted weight is through exercise and diet. In cases where the fat is unaffected by these measures, medical intervention is required. This intervention can be surgical, using noninvasive techniques or drugs. The fastest, healthiest and most effective method is surgery.

Surgical

Cosmetic surgery is only performed on healthy individuals who are at minimal risk for surgical complications. Cosmetic surgeries such as liposuction, face-lifts, abdominoplasty, body lift and inner thigh lift can all be used to reduce your weight surgically. Liposuction can be done on almost any portion of the body and is the least invasive surgical procedure for weight loss.

Medication

Medications such as laxatives and diuretics can be used to decrease your weight. Diuretics function by helping your kidneys extract sodium from your system, which in turn extracts water. Laxatives and colon cleanses remove buildup from your intestinal tract. These methods should be done under medical supervision and if done unsupervised can have harmful effects on your health.

Ultrasound

The American Society of Plastic Surgery is currently investigating the ultrasound fat loss method. This method uses blasts of sound waves to liquefy the fat under your skin. This methods causes fat cells to rupture and die. The clinical trails of this method overseas have proven promising. Ultrasound usually requires three or four treatments to effectively get rid of fat pockets.
