Cellulite, fat deposits beneath the skin, commonly affects more women than men. The bad news is that there's no cure for cellulite; products on the market can diminish the appearance of dimples instead of making them disappear. Certain lifestyle changes, however, can make the skin in the affected area firmer. When dealing with cellulite, consistency is key. If you eat a healthy diet and stick to a regular regimen of strength training, you should notice a change in a few months.

Step 1

Perform resistance-training exercises such as squats, lunges and deadlifts to increase muscle tone in the glutes, hamstrings and quadriceps muscles. Perform strength-training exercises two to three times per week.

Step 2

Perform cardiovascular exercises that target the thigh, hip and butt area. Run stadium stairs at a nearby track. Use stair and elliptical machines when at the gym. Perform cardiovascular exercise for 30 to 45 minutes at least three times per week.

Step 3

Change up your workout program every four to six weeks to see continual results in the affected area. Switch up the equipment you use, and use different modalities such as free weights, body weight and fitness machines for strength-training exercises.

Step 4

Eat a healthy diet of lean meats, whole-grain products, vegetables and fruits. Avoid fried and processed foods as much as possible.

Step 5

Hire a certified fitness professional to help design a fitness program.
