Regrowing hair takes time, patience and perseverance. Since hair only grows approximately 1/2 inch per month, it can take quite some time to grow out short hair or eliminate all of the damage caused by a bad haircut. Although some claim to know the secret for speeding up hair growth, there really is not anything you can do to make your hair grow faster than your body allows. You can, however, optimize growth.

Step 1

Take a vitamin supplement rich in antioxidants and vitamin B complexes to enhance and optimize hair growth by increasing nutrients and blood supply to the scalp, as recommended by Dr. Harold Lancer, a UCLA dermatologist, in Marie Claire magazine.

Step 2

Perform a cholesterol conditioning treatment each week. Apply a liberal amount of cholesterol to your scalp and hair. Massage the cholesterol into your your scalp using circular motions. Leave the conditioner on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Step 3

Use protective shampoos and conditioners to keep your hair healthy. Choose protein shampoos and conditioners with labels that use words such as "anti-breakage," "reparative," "restorative" and "strengthening."

Step 4

Trim the very ends of your hair every six to eight weeks. This removes split ends before they can take over.

Step 5

Avoid harsh chemical services such as color, perms and relaxers.

Step 6

Abstain from thermal styling when possible. If you must style, turn down the temperature settings on your blow dryer, curling iron and flat iron, and use a protective thermal styling spray before styling.
