Apple cider vinegar has been used for hundreds of years to treat a variety of medical conditions, according to Dr. Group of the Global Healing Center website. Beneficial enzymes are produced during the cider's fermentation process. Apple cider vinegar contains nutrients including calcium, pectin and potassium. The nutrient-containing part of the cider is called the "mother." It is a cloudy, web-like mass found at the bottom of the bottle.

Weight Loss
One theory surrounding apple cider vinegar is that it may help improve weight loss as part of a healthy low-fat diet. Apple cider vinegar aids in digestion, allowing your body to process food more easily. Though there is not enough scientific evidence to prove this theory, alternative nutritionists suggest that it boosts your metabolism and helps to burn calories. Consuming 2 tsp. of organic apple cider vinegar with an 8 oz. glass of water before each meal is proposed to help you lose weight.
Treating Acne
Apple cider vinegar balances pH levels on the skin, and absorbs excess oil on the face. One natural home remedy for acne advises mixing one part apple cider vinegar with three parts water, and applying the solution directly to problem areas. Home Remedies Web suggests leaving the tonic on for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. This remedy may be used up to three times per day.
Lowering Blood Glucose
A study reported by the American Diabetes Association, in the journal "Diabetes Care," evaluated the use of apple cider vinegar as a blood glucose control agent in those with type II diabetes. The results demonstrated that consuming a mixture of 1 oz. apple cider vinegar, 1.5 oz..of water and 1 tsp. of saccharin taken directly before eating a meal affected patient's blood glucose positively. The vinegar helped to control excessive sugar spikes in the blood that commonly occur after eating a meal heavy in carbohydrates. More research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of this treatment.
