Soy protein powder is an alternative supplement for those who cannot have other forms of protein. For example, vegans do not eat meat or any products that derive from animals. People who are lactose intolerant or allergic to eggs use soy protein powder as well. Other than the fact that it is high protein, soy also comes with other benefits. Numerous human studies report that adding soy protein to the diet can moderately decrease blood levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein according to the Mayo Clinic's website. To use soy protein, you will need a few tools.

Multiple Meals a Day

Step 1

Open the lid to a shaker cup and pour in eight to 12 oz. of low-fat milk or soy milk. Dump one to two scoops of soy protein into the cup and close the lid tightly. Make sure your liquid is ice cold.

Step 2

Grab the shaker firmly with both hands. Shake it up and down forcefully for about 30 seconds and look inside to see the consistency. Flip the shaker upside to see if there are any remnants on the bottom. If there are, shake it up again for about 30 seconds.

Step 3

Open the flip-cap on the spout and drink your shake. Have this for breakfast and alternate between a shake and whole-food meal throughout the rest of the day. Space your feedings about three hours apart and include healthy foods in your whole-food meals like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. This will keep your metabolism elevated and it will also keep your appetite under control.

Step 3

Secure the lid to the pitcher, place one hand on it and turn on the blender. Blend until you see all the ingredients become smooth.
