Several popular diets claim to result in washboard abs. While there is no particular plan that targets abs alone, appropriate dietary changes can aid in sculpting your entire body--abdominal area included. If you tend to carry excess weight around your mid-section, you will likely lose ab inches first.
Actions
1. Take an inventory of your current diet, recording what you eat and portion sizes.
2. Bulk up on vegetables and fruits.
3. Replace refined carbohydrates (such as white flour products) with whole grain breads, rice and pasta.
4. Drink at least 64 oz. of water per day.
5. Enjoy lean protein, such as fish, poultry, legumes or low-fat dairy products with each meal.
