Men who smoke marijuana two times a week or more have lower sperm counts, testosterone levels and potency. As a result of having a lower testosterone level, men may have a harder time maintaining a firm erection throughout intercourse. Men who experience these problems may attempt to avoid intimacy so they don't have to face this embarrassment in the future.
Conception Issues--Women
Women who smoke marijuana even occasionally increase the risk of having abnormal ovulation. This risk came into play with women who had smoke just a few times within a year of trying to get pregnant. When ovulation is irregular, this plays havoc with plans to get pregnant. Many couples who are trying to become pregnant schedule their sexual interludes for specific dates based on the woman's ovulation. If ovulation is irregular, would-be parents cannot find the most effective dates to try to get pregnant.
After conception
One of the most devastating problems associated with smoking marijuana is spontaneous abortion. The early stages of pregnancy may appear to be on track and everything seems to be going well, but the woman will suffer a spontaneous abortion. This problem is more frequent with women who smoke marijuana then those who don't. Problems with the labor and delivery process also occur more frequently for marijuana users.
