Organic buckwheat flour is a gluten-free alternative to white or whole wheat bread flour, according to the World's Healthiest Foods.com. You can use organic buckwheat flour for baking bread, making pancakes or homemade pasta. When buckwheat is ground into flour, you have the choice of light or dark flour. The light organic buckwheat flour is not as nutritious as the dark form, but as the chef, you can decide which type of organic buckwheat flour is best for your recipe.

Step 1

Purchase a container with an airtight lid that will not allow for moisture. Wash the container and lid with hot water and dish soap. Dry the container and lid thoroughly or allow the container and lid to air dry.

Step 2

Pour the organic buckwheat flour into the container. Attach the lid. Check the lid to make sure the lid is airtight.

Step 3

Place the container in your refrigerator for storage. Return the sealed container immediately to your refrigerator after using some of the flour for cooking or baking to prevent moisture in the container. Use the organic buckwheat within one to three months to ensure freshness.

Tips and Warnings

  • Label your container of organic buckwheat flour with the date when you place the container in the refrigerator.
