Severe enlargement of the oil glands is called sebaceous hyperplasia, resulting in yellowish bumps all over the face. There are surgical treatments to remove the bumps, from burning or freezing them off to laser surgery, but they come with a small risk of leaving scars or pigmentation. There are no skin care products that remove the bumps, but you can prevent enlarged facial oil glands by keeping your skin clean and well moisturized to reduce excess surface oil and clogged pores.
Cleanser
You want a decongestive facial cleanser that will remove makeup and excess oil without drying out the skin, which causes overproduction of oil. Look for products containing alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, to exfoliate the skin, unclog pores and reduce oil production. Common AHAs include glycolic acid, citric acid, salicylic acid, and malic acid. Also look for vitamin A, which refines and minimizes pores. More than just washing the face, the cleanser should efficiently remove excess residue and surface cells to decongest pores and prepare the skin for the moisturizer.
Moisturizer
It might be hard to imagine spreading a cream all over your fresh, clean face, but it's critical to keeping your pores and oil production under control. Select products that target the production of oil deep in the pores, clear away debris, calm irritation and reduce the size of the large pores. Look for moisturizers containing natural botanical extracts to reduce pore size and hyaluronic acid, the body's natural hydrator, to nourish the skin without leaving it greasy or shiny, according to "Milady's Skin Care and Cosmetics Ingredient Dictionary."
Skin Mask
Use a tightening face mask once or twice a week to clean and diminish the pores. Choose a mask containing high quality natural earth clays, such as kaolin and bentonite, to draw out the impurities while refining the skin's texture.
