Even though electrolysis serves as the most common clinical form of hair removal, you can also eliminate unwanted facial hair at home by plucking, shaving and waxing. Bleaching also helps to hide or reduce the appearance of facial hair. For some, though, these treatments can irritate the hair follicles and result in skin rashes and tenderness. However, you do not have to depend on irritating hair removal methods as you can also choose from among a number of natural home remedies designed to get rid of facial hair on women.
Coconut Paste
Reduce unwanted facial hair gradually with a gentle coconut paste. Roshni Dayal, in "Natural Beauty Secrets from India: Easy, Economical, and Effective Head-To-Toe Home Remedies for a Beautiful You, Naturally," recommends this treatment for hampering the growth of facial hair. Blend turmeric powder with a small quantity of warm coconut oil so as to form a thick paste. You can also use gram flour, which is made from ground chickpeas, and rosewater in place of the coconut oil. Apply the paste to your face for 10 minutes and then rinse clear with warm water. Repeat the treatment as needed.
Rosewater Scrub
Minimize facial hair and discourage its re-growth through a rosewater facial scrub. Tanushree Podder, in "Beauty Solutions," suggests this home remedy for removing hair on various parts of the face. Blend rosewater, milk and choker, which is a type of wheat bran, into a facial scrub, and then apply generously to your face and neck. Scrub into your skin with circular strokes until the scrub dries and falls off of your face. If helpful, substitute apricot and honey as the ingredients for the facial scrub and repeat weekly until you achieve the desired results.
Fenugreek Powder
Eliminate facial hair with a powder blend that centers on the herb fenugreek, which is common in curry seasonings and spices. In the home remedy guide, "1000 Plus Household Hints," Podder recommends this powder treatment as an effective way to get rid of unwanted hair on your face, as well as other parts of your body. Blend equal amounts of fenugreek powder with green gram powder, and then moisten with a small quantity of water. Apply the powder blend to your face and allow it to dry. Then, remove by gently scrubbing it off with a dry cloth.
Barley Blend
Decrease the amount of hair on your face with a simple barley blend. Priya Sachdev, in "Forever Beautiful: A Handbook of Beauty Care the Natural Way," suggests this home remedy for stubborn areas of unwanted facial hair. Stir 1 tablespoon of barley powder into equal quantities of milk and lime juice. Once mixed, smooth the blend over your face and leave in place for 20 to 30 minutes. Then, cleanse your skin thoroughly with warm water. Sachdev recommends including this treatment in your beauty routine at least three times every week for the best results.
