Over the years, two common signs of aging can arise in the delicate skin that surrounds your eyes. Fine lines, sometimes known as crow's feet, can begin creeping away from the corners of your eyes. Meanwhile, shadow-casting bags can begin hanging below your eyes. These two signs can make you look tired, haggard and old. Getting rid of them can leave you with a younger, more energized face, and help you feel much better about yourself.

Step 1

Sleep with your head positioned higher than your torso. This prevents fluids from collecting around your eyes while you sleep, which can cause the bags you see under your eyes.

Step 2

Press something moist and cold against your eyes when you wake up. Examples include cold tea bags, chilled moist cloths or refrigerated metal spoons. Hold the cold against your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. The cold temperature and pressure help constrict your skin surface and tighten under-eye bags.

Step 3

Smooth on a moisturizing sunscreen around your eyes in the morning. The sun is the leading cause of fine lines. According to the Mayo Clinic website, you should use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Moisturizers in the sunscreen plump and firm your skin's surface, helping to smooth away wrinkles and firm up any baggy skin.

Step 4

Wear sunglasses outdoors. This protects your eyes and can help prevent more fine lines and keep the skin around your eyes from darkening, which can accentuate the appearance of your under-eye bags.

Step 5

Dab on an anti-aging eye cream in the evening before going to bed. For fighting wrinkles, skincare tester Paula Begoun recommends any cream that contains alpha hydroxy acids, vitamin A---sometimes called retinol---or antioxidants like vitamin C, E and K. Vitamin K can help with under-eye bags and circles because it can brighten the skin and improve surface circulation.

Things You'll Need
