Having excess body hair if you are male comes with some advantages. It helps keep the body warm, it repels water from your skin and it also provides protection from the sun. The main drawback of body hair is that it can often be thick and dark. This is called terminal hair, and it can make you feel self-conscious. To rid this hair from your body, set aside a bit of time and get yourself a few tools.

Step 1

Have the hair on your back removed with a laser treatment. With this treatment, a high-powered beam of laser light gets shined down onto the skin and destroys the hair follicle, causing the hair to fall out. Be aware that it can take several laser hair-removal treatments to provide an extended hair-free period, according to the Mayo Clinic's website.

Step 2

Trim and shave the hair on your chest. Use a pair of barber shears, scissors or beard trimmers to remove the excess hair. Wash your chest with warm water and leave it wet. Lather on shaving cream and hold a razor in one hand. Place it against your skin with moderate pressure and run in up in a smooth stroke. Take two or three strokes, rinse off the debris in the sink and repeat until you've removed all the hair. Be careful around the nipple area.

Step 3

Dissolve the hair on your arms with a depilatory cream. Apply a warm washcloth to your hair to soften it up, and then spread a good amount of cream over top of it. Refer to the instructions on the bottle for how long you should let it set up. Place a damp washcloth against your skin when it is time and wipe off the hair. Repeat in all areas that you want removal.

Step 4

Invest in a home waxing kit to remove the hair on your legs. Heat up the wax and apply it to a patch of hair with the applicator tool that comes with the kit. Do this in the direction that the hair is growing. Take out the cloth strip and place it over the wax and leave one corner exposed. Grip it firmly with your fingers and pull it off in a fast, downward motion. Repeat in all areas where you want hair removed.

Step 5

Make an appointment with a licensed esthetician to get electrolysis for your face. Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal treatment where a small needle is inserted into your hair follicles and a surge of electricity gets sent to the tip. The hair then falls out because the root is killed off.

Step 6

Pluck out the stray hairs on your chin, eyebrows or knuckles. Take out a pair of tweezers and grasp one single hair close to the skin. Pull straight out in a steady, but not fast motion. Repeat with all the hairs you want removed. Utilize an angled pair of tweezers to make it easier.

Tips and Warnings

  • When it comes to waxing, shaving and using a depilatory, you can use these methods for any area of your body. For example, you can shave your face with a razor and use a depilatory for your chest. It's really all a matter of preference.
  • When using a depilatory, keep it away from your eyes, mouth and any open cuts or scrapes.
