The textbook "Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology," describes cellulite as a topical change in the look of the skin. Cellulite occurs when fat cells underneath the skin push against connective tissue and causes the skin to change from a smooth appearance to a dimpled one. There are no proven methods to rid you of cellulite, but there are certain foods you can eat to help change the appearance of fat and cellulite.

Nuts

Nuts are high in protein and high in fiber. Fiber is a complex carbohydrate that takes a long time for the body to digest and break down. This leads to your insulin-levels increasing at a steady pace rather than rapidly spiking, which essentially allows you to burn fat instead of store it. The book "Crack the Fat-Loss Code," illustrates that if your insulin levels spike, it triggers your body's fat-storing mechanism, so eating nuts high in fiber can help prevent that. Nuts are also easy to measure so you eat the correct portion to give you enough fiber and protein without overeating calories. You can eat nuts as a snack or incorporate them into meals such as part of a salad or use them as a garnish on meat. Nuts are also beneficial in giving you energy and keeping you feeling fuller longer.

Fruits

Raw fruits are another food for helping rid the appearance of cellulite. Women are more prone to cellulite than men, and cellulite tends to appear in the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen. Because fruits are naturally low in fat, eating them is a way to combat your body's tendency to hold on to fat as an energy source and forces it to use existing fat for fuel. Though fruits contain sugar and carbohydrates, they are still high in naturally occurring vitamins and minerals that your body needs to help you lose weight. Sugar from fruit is also in a natural form, so your body gains energy and does not expend as much breaking down and metabolizing fruit.

Vegetables

Very similar to fruits are raw vegetables. Vegetables will help you get rid of the appearance of cellulite and help you lose weight. Vegetables are also high in fiber and low in fat, so they keep you feeling fuller longer and they provide your body with much-needed vitamins and minerals. To avoid consuming preservatives, eat vegetables that are raw, and stay away from frozen or canned varieties, which are higher in sodium and artificial preservatives.
