According to Discovery Health, teabags are one effective method of soothing the eyes and creating a more refreshed appearance. Tea contains tannins, antioxidants and sometimes caffeine--all of which can be beneficial to the delicate skin around the eyes.

Be sure to visit your doctor if one eye swells up more than the other, if you notice hives or a rash or if your eyes will not close completely. Black and Green Teas

It can be helpful to refrigerate them for about ten minutes. Lie down and close your eyes. Place a tea bag over each eye and rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
