Everyone has their bad days. However, this occasional lapse in good humor is a normal part of living, but when you constantly find yourself complaining about feeling bad, it is time to rejuvenate yourself. Your system may be suffering from retention of toxins and other impurities or stress may be weighing down your mind and body. Incorporate simple things to help you address the needs of your body and improve your health and vitality.
Step 1
Drink water every day to help rejuvenate your system. Life-sustaining water will flush toxins out from your body, help all your organs function well and keep your skin moisturized. Aim to drink eight glasses of water a day and increase your water intake by munching on celery, melons and other water-based foods.
Step 2
Conduct a food fast for a couple of days once every few months. Dr. Joel Furhman, author of "Fasting and Eating for Health: A Medical Doctor's Program for Conquering Disease" declares short-term fasting safe and effective for curing many health problems.
Drink only water for 48 hours in order to allow your digestive system to rest and to remove toxins and impurities from your body. Consider modified fasting any time you are feeling sluggish. For example, you can fast from all solid foods and only consume liquids such as broths, gelatin, juices and teas.
Step 3
Schedule a colon hydrotherapy procedure at a spa. This technique involves the propulsion of water into the colon to clean out metabolic waste. It is an effective means of curing constipation and encouraging regular bowel functioning.
Step 4
Consume organic fruits and vegetables regularly. These foods have been raised without chemicals that can accumulate as toxins in your system. Organic foods often cost a little more than other foods but many find the health benefits of them outweigh economic concerns.
Step 5
Treat your skin to saunas, exfoliation and massage on a regular basis. A sauna, or steam bath, will help you sweat out impurities. Exfoliation will help remove dead skin cells and improve your circulation. Massage will relax your body and help circulation as well. Indulge in these activities as often as you are able.
Step 6
Practice relaxation techniques to help rejuvenate your system as a whole. Take cleansing breaths with your eyes closed while listening to gentle music or soothing nature sounds. Meditate using guided imagery in which you mentally place yourself in a calming and satisfying environment. Learn how to do yoga or Pilates exercises as part of your rejuvenating and relaxing routine.
Step 7
Exert yourself physically for 30 minutes a day. Get your heart rate up, perspire and breathe heavily with activities such as tennis, swimming, dance, basketball or aerobics. Your body and soul will both benefit.
Step 8
Get regular checkups from your physician and your dentist. You may have an underlying health issue robbing you of your natural vitality. Proper treatment, such as antibiotics for infection or a root canal for a bad tooth, can go a long way to rejuvenate your body.
Tips and Warnings
- Take time each day to focus on yourself and your enjoyments. Happiness and laughter are excellent means of rejuvenation.
