Commercial nail care products may claim to strengthen and moisturize nails, but they often do more harm than good. Nail products such as polish removers, nail strengtheners and polish often contain artificial colors and fragrances and harsh chemicals such as acetate, formaldehyde and toluene that can leave nails dry, brittle and susceptible to splitting and breakage. Some companies have formulated nail products that are designated "natural" because they do not contain these harsh chemicals.

The manufacturer claims that five days of regular morning and evening treatment will result in healthier nails.

Nubar makes a variety of natural nail care products, including Nubar Nail Lacquer. The lacquer is free of chemicals that dry and damage the nails, including formaldehyde, tolulene and DBP (phthalate). The nail lacquer is available in a wide range of colors from traditional pinks and reds to green, blue and yellow. Nubar also makes chemical-free polish remover, cuticle oil, clear base coat and protective top coat. All Nubar products are certified vegan and cruelty-free.

Tate's The Natural Miracle Nail Polish Remover, made from 100 percent minerals, claims it will restore brittle, cracked or peeling nails and remove nail polish without artificial dyes, colors and fragrance. It contains no pesticides, phosphates, sulfates or glycols. Tate's The Natural Miracle Nail Polish Remover has not been tested on animals.
