Raw vinegar, specially raw apple cider vinegar, has been used for centuries for healing and natural health. Hippocrates, commonly known as the father of medicine, treated patients with apple cider vinegar in 400 B.C. Julius Caesar's army, the Babylonians, the Greeks, the Romans and Christopher Columbus used apple cider vinegar for a variety of health reasons. Apple cider vinegar is made from crushed apples. The apples are then fermented in wooden barrels. The best type of apple cider vinegar is cold-pressed and made from organic apples.

Rich in Potassium and Enzymes

Raw, organic apple cider vinegar contains potassium and live enzymes. Potassium is an important mineral for maintaining healthy electrical and cellular body functions. Potassium also helps the regulation of the blood's pH balance. It is needed to build muscles and for your body to grow and develop. Because it is an electrolyte, it is also required for the electrical activity of the heart.

Normalizes Blood Pressure

Consuming raw apple cider will help lower your blood pressure, according to doctors Paul and Patricia Bragg. They recommend mixing a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar in water and drinking it. This remedy has not been scientifically proven. The pectin in raw apple cider vinegar also regulates blood pressure and assists in the removal of bad cholesterol from the body.

May Help Symptoms of Arthritis

Although not proven, many people claim drinking small amounts of raw apple cider vinegar helps alleviate the symptoms of arthritis.

Fights Infections

According to Dr. Karen Spencer Dees, the malic acid present in raw apple cider vinegar helps fight bacterial and fungus infections.

Relieves Muscle Cramps

Consuming raw apple cider vinegar is thought to relieve muscle cramps because precipitated acid crystals often causing the cramp are able to enter into a solution and leave the body.

Reduces LDL Cholesterol

Apple cider vinegar helps reduce the bad cholesterol present in the body.

Polyphenols

Apple cider vinegar, as well as red wine vinegar, contains polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals and may reduce your risk of getting cancer.

Contains Calcium

Apple cider vinegar contains calcium, which helps regulate muscle contraction, send nerve impulses and maintain strong bones and teeth.

Iron and Magnesium

Iron is an essential mineral for human blood. Magnesium is important for the health of the heart. Both minerals are found in apple cider vinegar.

Lowers Glucose

According to Diabetes Health, "Taking two tablespoons of vinegar at bedtime can lower fasting glucose levels the next morning by as much as 6 percent." The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar has the ability to slow starch digestion and lower blood glucose levels.
