Enzyte is a natural "male enhancement" supplement manufactured by Berkeley Premium Nutraceuticals, which claims to have sold over 10 million boxes of the product. The fact that it's an herbal supplement, instead of a drug, means that it is not subject to regulation by the Food and Drug Administration.
Current Claims
Berkeley makes few direct claims as to what Enzyte will do, perhaps in response to lawsuits alleging false advertising. According to the Enzyte website, taking Enzyte regularly may help increase blood flow, create firmer, stronger and fuller erections, and help men "reach peak sexual enhancement." However, it offers no definition or explanation of "peak sexual enhancement."
Advertising
Current Enzyte advertisements rely largely on innuendo and metaphor, depicting a silent spokesman, "Smiling Bob," in various situations involving phallic symbols such as a golf club. In a video advertisement on the Enzyte website, Smiling Bob is shown to be enjoying "a big, new swing of confidence" and a smiling, satisfied wife at home, thanks to taking Enzyte. All of this is delivered without making any actual promises of whether Enzyte will do the same for you, the consumer.
Previous Claims
Enzyte was previously marketed under claims that it would enlarge a man's penis and erectile chambers by up to 41 percent or would add one to three inches to a man's penis size within eight months, backed by a double-money-back guarantee. These claims have since been withdrawn.
Disclaimer
Enzyte is comprised of several herbal ingredients; because of this, the product comes with a disclaimer that it has not been evaluated by the FDA and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. The company also notes that the models in its advertising campaigns are paid models and not necessarily customers, and that individual results may vary. The product website is devoid of testimonials, and under the frequently asked question of "Will Enzyte work for me?", the company's only statements are that Enzyte has been the top-selling natural male enhancement product for five years running, "may" work for you, and "there's a good chance Enzyte will work for you!"
Herbs
The principal herbal components of Enzyte are supposed to improve blood flow and circulation throughout the body, stimulate sperm and testosterone production, act as a tonic and restorative, support sexual function, enhance libido and stimulate sexual behavior. All of these claims are couched in the obligatory language of "may," "is supposed to," or traditional/folk uses of the herbs; scientific proof of herbal efficacy is, in many cases, inconclusive.
