A kidney stone is a hard mass that forms from crystallization of excreted substances, usually chemicals and minerals, in the urine. It is a painful disorder of the urinary tract, which causes lasting symptoms or other complications, such trouble in walking fast, running or doing severe exercise. Sometimes, tiny kidney stones pass out of the body without any treatment. Today, practitioners also depend on herbal resources for the treatment of kidney stones.

Burdock

Burdock is a coarse biennial weed. For centuries, it has been highly regarded for its action on the urinary tract. Burdock root oil extract is a topical medicine. A root decoction of burdock has been reported useful in clearing up stubborn kidney stone and calculi, according to the George Mason University.

Goldenrod

Goldenrod is a common medicinal plant which has multiple uses. It may be taken in a variety of forms, including the dried herb, tincture or fluid extract. Goldenrod is a diuretic and can flush out the urinary tract; which makes it valuable for kidney problems. Goldenrod is also used to aid in passing kidney stones in tea form, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Horsetail

Horsetails are a group of non-flowering, dimorphic perennial plant that looks like a green horse's tail. They are distributed throughout the temperate northern hemisphere in Asia, Europe and North America. Horsetail is a powerful diuretic, meaning it helps rid the body of excess fluid. It also acts against the formation of kidney stones of calcium oxalate, according to the Herbal Safety.
