Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist, created the South Beach Diet -- a popular weight loss plan that is aimed at promoting general health improvements, in addition to weight loss. The South Beach Diet features three different phases with varying dietary recommendations. Every Diet website notes that the first phase is the most restrictive with most carbohydrates prohibited. In order to make the South Beach Diet easier to follow, the company manufactures a number of prepared and frozen meals for purchase.
South Beach Living Cereal Bars
Food manufacturer Kraft produces the South Beach Living Cereal Bars that are considered suitable for the second two phases of the South Beach Diet, as they contain carbohydrates and sugar. According to Kraft's official website, the bars contain 140 calories, 5 g of fat, 17 g of carbohydrates and 8 g of protein. The bars have 7 g of sugar and 3 g of fiber, which may help you feel full. South Beach Living Cereal Bars come in a variety of flavors and can be used as a lower calorie alternative to candy or other convenience foods.
South Beach Diet Pizza
Although pizza is usually not considered to be a diet-friendly food, South Beach Diet does offer a moderately low-calorie frozen pizza product as an alternative to less healthy options. These pizzas are high in carbohydrates, but offer more fiber than traditional pizza and are made with low fat cheese and meats. According to the Daily Plate, one South Beach Diet pepperoni pizza contains 350 calories, with 12 g of fat, 36 g of carbohydrates and 31 g of protein. Despite the high fat content, the pizza is low in saturated fat, with just 4 g. In addition, the Daily Plate notes this pizza contains 9 g of fiber, which can help you feel full.
South Beach Fiber Fit Cookies
The South Beach Diet also offers specially prepared snacks and desserts such as cookies to help you avoid less healthy treats. According to Kraft, one package of South Beach Diet Fiber Fit Cookies contains 100 calories, with 5 g of fat, 17 g of carbohydrates and 1 g of protein. These cookies are higher in fiber than most desserts, with 5 g of fiber and 5 g of sugar.
South Beach Living Wraps
The South Beach Diet also offers wraps for lunch, dinner or snacks. According to Kraft, there are three varieties of wraps: southwestern, chicken caesar and turkey and bacon clubs. Nutrition information varies slightly between wraps, but the turkey and bacon club wrap contains 240 calories, 12 g of fat, 24 g of carbohydrates and 24 g of protein. These wraps are high in fiber, with 14 g of fiber per wrap. However, they are also high in sodium, with 39 percent of your daily recommended intake.
