Overview

Blackheads are unsightly black spots that appear when pores near the surface of the skin become clogged with oil, bacteria and dead skin cells. Although many commercial products are available, simple home remedies are often an effective treatment for mild or moderate blackheads. See your physician if the blackheads on your nose don't improve with home remedies, or if your skin becomes irritated or inflamed.

Green Tea Exfoliant

Brew a cup of green tea, then save the used teabag. Cut it open and massage the tea into your nose and any other problem areas. The tea, which is rich in antioxidants, will gently exfoliate your skin.

Tea Tree Oil

Dab tea tree oil onto the blackheads on your nose. Studies indicate the effectiveness of tea tree oil is similar to that of benzoyl peroxide, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. But tea tree oil will reduce inflammation with fewer side effects such as itching, stinging, burning and dryness.

Tomato Lemon Mask

The acid in tomatoes and lemons is an effective blackhead fighters, and oatmeal will act as a gentle exfoliant. Place a peeled, overripe tomato in a blender or food processor. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of instant oatmeal, then puree the ingredients. Smooth the mask over your clean face, paying special attention to your nose and any other problem blackhead areas. Leave the mask on your face for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Oatmeal Mask

A homemade oatmeal mask will sooth your skin and dry acne that causes blackheads. Mix a cup of oatmeal, 3 tsp. of aloe vera gel and 1 tsp. of baking soda. Smooth the oatmeal mask over the blackheads on your nose and face. Leave the mask for five minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Egg Whites

Egg whites will dry oily patches and loosen blackheads. Place an egg white into a bowl, then stir in a handful of corn flour. Dab the paste onto your blackheads. Leave the egg white paste for 30 minutes. Wet your hands with warm water and massage the paste gently into your skin. Rinse with warm water.

Potato

A potato will promote clear skin. Dab grated raw potato onto oily areas and blackheads. Rinse the potato from your face after five minutes.
