Weslo produces a variety of fitness equipment, including a line of treadmills intended for use in the home. These devices are often powered by a motor unit hidden within a housing at the front of the walking deck, below the console unit. The motor within connects to the walking belt's front roller via a drive belt; as the motor runs, the drive belt turns the roller, which causes the walking belt to move forward. Sometimes, the stress placed on the walking belt during normal operation may cause the component to wear out.
Step 1
Follow the treadmill's power cord to the motor housing. Find the circuit breaker, located on the housing next to the cord. Set the circuit breaker to the "Off" position. Unplug the power cord from the wall.
Step 2
Remove the bolts securing the rear end caps to the treadmill's base, including the two adjustment bolts attached to the rear roller. Separate the end caps from the base and set them aside. Remove the screws attached to the motor housing. Separate the motor housing from the base and set it aside.
Step 3
Lift the side panels off the side rails, if present. Remove the screws attached to the side rails, then separate the rails from the base and set them aside. Remove the bolt that secures the front roller to the frame, then detach the drive belt from the front roller. Extract the front and rear rollers from the treadmill belt.
Step 4
Remove the screws, securing the right edge of the walking deck to the treadmill's frame. Turn each of the screws located on the left side of the walking deck two turns to the left. Lift the right edge of the deck and extract the treadmill belt from the deck.
Step 5
Slide the new treadmill belt onto the deck. Turn each of the screws located on the left side of the walking deck two turns to the right. Use the previously removed screws to secure the right edge of the deck to the frame.
Step 6
Raise the upper portion of the walking belt and spread a layer of lubricant across the middle of the deck. Lower the walking belt. Reinstall the front and rear rollers; bolt the front roller back to the frame and reconnect the drive belt. Reinstall the side rails, side panels and motor housing.
Step 7
Reinstall the end caps on the rear of the base. Slide the adjustment bolts through the center of the end caps, into the holes on the rear roller. Position the walking belt in the center of the deck, then tighten both adjustment bolts until you are able to lift the belt no more than 3 inches off the deck. Reconnect the power cord and flip the circuit breaker to the "Reset" position.
Tips and Warnings
- After you have finished installing the new belt, allow the treadmill to run for five minutes to spread the lubricant across the deck.
