As long as you are an adult male without a testosterone deficiency, you should be able to grow facial hair. While some men will genetically have facial hair that grows faster than other men, there are a host of lifestyle changes you can easily made to help grow your facial hair. Dr. Jeffery Benabio, member of the American Academy of Dermatology, states that you must make a solid commitment to growing your facial hair in order to get the results that you desire.
Step 1
Don't shave for at least four weeks or more. Dr. Benabio and Hudson's Guide claim that shaving absolutely not make your facial hair grow faster, although it make seem that way. Dr. Benabio says it will take at least four weeks without trimming and shaving to get your beard dense.
Step 2
Take a multivitamin every day. A multivitamin will supplement for any nutritional deficiencies that you may have. Malnutrition will significantly slow hair growth as the body will use the vitamins and mineral for more vital processes.
Step 3
Take a biotin supplement. Other than a multivitamin, only a biotin supplement is recommended because it is linked to healthful hair growth according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Benabio suggests 2.5mg of biotin per day to help grow facial hair faster.
Step 4
Eat solid foods with protein. Hair is actually made of keratin protein. It is mandatory that you consume protein in order to grow facial hair, especially if your hair growth rate is slower than average. The Mayo Clinic recommends that at least 10 percent of your daily calories come from protein but closer to 35 percent may be optimal for this task.
Step 5
Shampoo and massage your facial hair. Dr. Benabio suggests shampooing with head and shoulder or another dandruff shampoo. A shampoo that including caffeine in its formula can also be beneficial. A German study at the University of Lubeck found that caffeine, when applied topically, increased hair growth significantly more than placebo.
