Moles can be embarrassing and potentially dangerous because some can develop into skin cancer. Always have your moles checked by a doctor to determine if they are pre-cancerous before trying to remove them yourself using natural remedies. Apple cider vinegar and castor oil are both used to treat and remove moles, freckles and age spots. While there is little scientific research to prove the efficacy or either remedy, there is anecdotal evidence to support the use of both.
Using Apple Cider Vinegar
Step 1
Wash the area around the mole.
Step 2
Apply apple cider vinegar with a cotton ball to the mole. Alternately, soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and place the cotton ball on the mole. Secure the cotton ball with a bandage and leave on all throughout the day and night.
Step 3
Change the cotton ball once per day or reapply apple cider vinegar directly to the skin using a cotton ball. The mole may feel sore to the touch and swell. Within three to four days, the mole should turn into a dark scab and fall off.
Step 4
Repeat the steps above again if the scab falls off and there are still more layers of dark mole underneath. Sometimes not all of the mole is removed at the same time.
Using Castor Oil
Step 1
Wash the area around the mole thoroughly.
Step 2
Cover the mole with castor oil and allow the oil to soak into the skin. You can cover the mole with a bandage to help the oil stay on the skin. This step is optional and is not required.
Step 3
Reapply the castor oil twice per day, rubbing the oil into the skin. Do not wash the oil off unless you are showering. The skin of the mole make flake or peel off in layers. Keep applying the oil to the newly exposed layers and in approximately three weeks every layer of the mole should flake off. The mole may also turn into a dark scab and fall off the skin in one piece.
Tips and Warnings
- Depending on your type of skin the mole should scab and flake off in three to four weeks.
- If the skin around the mole becomes sore, red or raw place petroleum jelly or an oil such as olive oil around the mole to protect the surrounding skin. Do not try both methods at together, choose one and try it for at least three weeks. If there is no change in the mole, switch to the other method.
