While some people enjoy heading out to the park for a run or into the gym for a treadmill workout, other people find these traditional workouts to be quite boring. Fortunately, you can use a variety of popular exercise routines to keep yourself interested in fitness. Whether you enjoy intense physical training or a more laid-back approach to fitness, you can find an exercise routine to meet your needs.
P90X
In 2004, fitness trainer Tony Horton and a group of fitness experts developed and released the P90X exercise program. According to the official workout website, "the P90X workout program is a revolutionary system of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping exercises designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days." The P90X program consists of 12 exercise routines, all of which focus on different areas of the body. For example, the Plyometrics exercise routine involves intense cardiovascular jumping exercises, while the Ab Ripper X exercise routine focuses on strengthening and toning the abdominal muscles. In order for the program to be effective, all of the exercise routines should be used in the recommended sequence.
Zumba
Involving a complex series of dance moves set to Latin rhythms, the Zumba exercise routine is fun and effective. According to the official Zumba website, the routines "feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat." Since the workout routine's initial introduction to the United States around 2002, the program's popularity has spread rapidly to more than 100 countries. Generally 45 to 60 minutes long, a Zumba class involves several different routines created from Latin-inspired dance moves.
Yoga
Although most people might not consider yoga an actual exercise routine, the practice of yoga does involve a specific and complex sequence of movements. Unlike the vigorous movements of Zumba and P90X, yoga relies on more relaxed and deliberate movements to stretch the muscles and improve flexibility and balance. Several different yoga exercise routines exist, offering a wide array of options for yoga enthusiasts. For example, the popular Hatha yoga routine involves basic yoga postures and breathing exercises. On the other hand, a Bikram yoga routine features a series of 26 basic yoga poses performed inside a very hot room.
