1. Seek Medical Attention
One of the best things you can do once you start to feel symptoms of the flu is to see your doctor immediately. Doctors' offices are usually very busy, but if you let your doctor know that you have the flu, he will be more than likely do his best to get you in. Your doctor can give you the best treatment plan to follow to help you get back on your feet as soon as possible. Another good reason to see your doctor is the fact that you are probably not the only person he has seen recently who has the flu. There is a very good chance that he has already seen someone recently with the same symptoms that you have. Since he has already treated someone with the same symptoms, he will be able to give you the best advice as to what you need to do to get better as quickly as possible.
2. Anitviral Treatment is Your Best Bet
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, antiviral drugs play a great role in the duration of the flu and reduction of symptoms. The key to the effectiveness of antiviral treatment, though, is starting use of it within the first 2 days that you have the flu. Once you do seek medical attention, you can ask your doctor about the use of antiviral treatment and if it is too late to start using them. If you are able to get in early enough and start treatment, you could very well knock off a few days of being sick.
3. Do Your Body Some Good
One of the things that we are guilty of is not taking the proper care of our bodies. We routinely do not get enough sleep, eat poorly and put undue stress on our bodies. When you are sick your body needs extra special care. Avoiding things such as alcohol, which will dehydrate you, is very important. Getting the proper amount of rest and fluids will help you recover faster from and get rid of the flu. Ignoring symptoms of the flu and not taking the proper steps to treat it could land you in the emergency room. Listen to your body and pay attention to any warning signs that you may have the flu. Doing so can help you get rid of the flu quicker instead of leaving you lying around in bed trying to recover.
