List of Nursing Homes

Nursing homes typically are places that offer consistent nursing and rehabilitative care to seniors, either as stand-alone facilities or as part of a hospital, though some nursing homes serve the mentally ill or developmentally disabled. Care typically includes physical, occupational and speech therapy, among others, as well as specialized care for elderly patients who suffer from Alzheimer's disease or dementia, neuromuscular, pulmonary or cardiovascular diseases, injuries, pain therapy, cancer and various other conditions. They are generally inpatient facilities that offer long-term care plus all the amenities, including laundry, food, management of medications and facilitation of activities. All states have nursing homes. Some of the best, according to a U.S. News & World Report October 2009 article, include the following.
