Peptides are the chemical bonds formed when amino acids link together. Although peptides are naturally found in the body, several synthetic ones have been formulated to battle the signs of aging and deterioration in the face. As your skin ages, collagen production decreases and elastin fibers deteriorate due to a reduction in communication between the dermis, or inner layer of skin, and the epidermis, or outer layer. Face creams with peptides link the two layers, helping stimulate the skin's natural repair mechanism, promoting a reduction in fine lines and the production of new skin tissue.

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7

Face creams with PT-7 protect the skin against tissue damage resulting from inflammation. PT-7 suppresses the body’s production of interleukins, the chemical messengers that trigger inflammation. Inflammation damages collagen and elastin production and leads to wrinkles, sagging, loss of youthful contours and uneven skin tone.

Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4

Face creams with PP-4 reduce appearance of wrinkles. PP-4 was originally developed to reduce stretch marks; not as an anti-wrinkle cream. By absorbing deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen production in the dermis, products with PP-4 drastically improve the skin’s cell production and reduce wrinkle depth.

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide

Face creams with PO reduce wrinkles and improve skin tone and texture. PO causes skin tissue regeneration by stimulating collagen, elastin and glucosaminoglycans production and thickening the epidermis. The peptide offers the same anti-aging benefits as Retinol, without the harmful side effects like warming of the skin, itching, dryness and sensitivity.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8

Face creams with AH-8 relax wrinkles. AH-8 has been marketed as a needle-free alternative to Botox by having the effect of blocking nerve signals sent to facial muscles. It is able to smooth wrinkles by relaxing tense muscles that form deep lines of expression.

Tripeptide GHK

Copper peptides used in face cream will reduce the formation of scar tissue, sun damage and sunspots, while also stimulating your skin to produce normal cells. By tightening the skin and improving its elasticity, a cream with copper peptides will replace the saggy, dull skin with a firmer, younger looking appearance.
