Dark patches on your skin have a way of demanding attention. Try as you might to cover them up, soon they peak out from under carefully placed concealer or get even darker after a day in the sun. While it may take longer than over-the-counter or prescription products, the gentlest way to treat hyperpigmentation at home is by using natural ingredients. Your daily breakfast foods can do double duty to renew your skin and lighten the spots in question. Give dark spots the attention they crave, and fade them for a more even complexion.

Step 1

Pour 1/2 cup of rolled oats and 4 tablespoons of lemon juice into a blender. Mix them together on the highest setting until they form a paste.

Step 2

Pull your hair back using a hair band to protect it from the treatment. Wash your hands with soap and water to remove any bacteria that could be transferred to your face.

Step 3

Pick up the mixture with your fingertips and massage it into your skin using an upward circular motions. Concentrate on areas with dark spots and avoid your eyes, nostrils and mouth. The oatmeal will exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells, while the lemon juice lightens pigmentation.

Step 4

Dampen a clean face cloth with warm water and use it to wipe away the scrub. The face cloth will remove any buildup while further exfoliating the skin.

Step 5

Pick up a dime-size amount of plain Greek yogurt and gently pat it onto the spot. Allow it to sink in for 20 minutes until dry, and remove it with a damp cloth. The lactic acid in yogurt is a natural lightener that is suitable for all skin types.
