How to Get Rid of Bags Under Light Eyes

Bags or dark circles beneath the eyes are caused by a lack of sleep, dehydration, allergies, aging, stress and a poor diet. Most droopy eyes are unfortunately hereditary and there to stay. These unsightly bags can make you look more tired than you actually are and can even make you look five to 10 years older, especially when you have pale skin. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to tone up your baggy eyes before you leave for work every morning.

Step 1

Tap the bags beneath your eyes gently with your middle finger. According to Eye Care Guide, this will help release fluid built up from the night before.

Step 2

Apply a hemorrhoid cream around your eyes. It may seem weird to put that around your eyes, but the cream contains anti-inflammatory agents that will soothe your baggy eyes and tighten the skin.

Step 3

Place cold compresses over your eyes for 10 minutes every morning. You can use soothing gel packs from your favorite beauty store or simply place two spoons in the refrigerator overnight to rest over your eyes in the morning.

Step 4

Slice cold cucumber and wear the slices over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. You can also use potato slices. This is will both reduce swelling around your eyes and brighten up your face.

Step 5

Save your green or chamomile teabags after every brewed pot. Squeeze any excess liquid from the bags and store them in the refrigerator. Place the bags over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes whenever you need to reduce swelling.

Step 6

Drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day and make sure to get eight full hours of sleep every night. Baggy eyes are most prominent after a period of dehydration and lost sleep.

Step 7

Cut back on your intake of caffeine and sodium. According to Free Beauty Tips, both of these encourage water retention in your body, which increases the size of your bags. Cutting back on caffeine will also improve your sleep schedule.

Step 8

Sleep with your face up on your pillow to encourage fluid to drain away from your eyes. After sleeping face-down for eight hours, your eyes will collect extra fluid and your bags will be harder to get rid of in the morning.
