You can use an ionic foot bath to help eliminate toxins from your body through your feet. The ionic foot bath uses magnetic and ionic currents to prompt this process while you are soaking your feet in water. Substantial scientific evidence is lacking as to whether ionic foot baths work to detoxify your body. Proponents say the water changes color as a proof of the toxins coming out, but others argue that it is a natural process that happens in water when you expose it to ionic and magnetic current. If you want to perform an ionic foot bath to test the result for yourself, it is easy to do at home.
Step 1
Fill your bowls with warm water and place them in front of the chair you will be sitting in while you perform your ionic foot bath. Add 1/2 tsp. of sea salt to each bowl and stir until the salt is fully dissolved in the water. Check to see that the water completely covers your feet.
Step 2
Take your metal wires and attach an alligator clip to one end of each wire. An alligator clip is a temporary electrical connector and is available at any hardware store.
Step 3
Attach your stainless steel spoons to the alligator clips as well.
Step 4
Attach the end of one of your metal wires to the positive terminal of your 9-volt battery and the other metal wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
Step 5
Dip the spoon of the wire that is connected to the positive terminal in one of the bowls filled with sea salt water and then dip the negatively charged wire spoon in the other bowl of sea salt water.
Step 6
Sit comfortably in your chair and place you first foot in the bowl with the spoon that is positively charged. Once it is fully soaked, place your other foot in the negatively charged spoon bowl. Always do the positively charged bowl first. Soak your feet in the bowls for a minimum of 35 minutes, suggests the website International Institute of Holistic Healing.
Step 7
Remove your feet from the salt water and disconnect your wires from the battery. You will notice the water in which you soaked your feet has changed color.
Step 8
Rinse your feet with fresh water and pat dry with a towel.
