Plastic surgeons have identified that pockets of fat in the cheeks can help alter your appearance and make you look more youthful. Getting fatter cheeks can be done by gaining general body fat, which can lead to health problems. The other option is cosmetic surgery.

Step 1

Consult with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to undergo plastic surgery and your organ systems are in working order.

Step 2

Find a board certified plastic surgeon. Consult with her on the best treatment options. Your surgeon and you will decide where the implant will be placed in your face and what kind material the implant will be made of.

Step 3

Undergo the surgery. The first step of surgery is undergoing anesthesia. When placing facial implants, anesthesia is general or local with IV sedation. The incision is made either inside the mouth or under the chin. The procedure takes one to two hours and usually requires no hospital stay.

Step 4

Recover. Recovery from the surgery takes approximately four to six months. The bruising will subside in three weeks. The final results will be fully visible in six months at the latest.
