Optimum Nutrition's Serious Mass protein powder is used as a weight-gain supplement. This product may, potentially, help people who are active or who have fast metabolisms gain lean muscle mass. It is marketed as a nutritional supplement, and you should read and understand the nutrition facts of any food product before consuming it.

Calories and Macronutrients

According to the manufacturer website, Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass contains approximately 1,250 calories per serving. A serving is considered to be two heaping scoops using the scoop provided in the container, which is equal to 334g. One serving can provide your body with 50g of protein, for 200 calories; 252g of carbohydrates, for 1,008 calories; and 4.5g of fat, for 41 calories.

Vitamins

Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass harbors multiple vitamins, including vitamin A, with 5000 I.U. or 100 percent of the daily value; vitamin C, with 60mg or 100 percent DV; vitamin D, with 200 I.U. or 50 percent DV; vitamin E, with 30 I.U. or 100 percent DV; thiamin, with 4.8mg or 320 percent DV; riboflavin, with 4mg or 235 percent DV, niacin, with 50mg or 250 percent DV; vitamin B6, with 5mg or 250 percent DV; folic acid, with 400mcg or 100 percent DV, vitamin B12, with 10mcg or 167 percent DV; biotin, with 300mcg or 100 percent DV; and pantothenic acid, with 25mg or 250 percent DV.

Minerals

Serious Mass can also provide your body with many essential minerals, including calcium, with 590mg or 59 percent DV; iron, with 8mg or 44 percent DV; phosphorus, with 430mg or 43 percent DV; Iodine, with 150mcg or 100 percent DV; magnesium, with 140mg or 35 percent DV; zinc, with 15mg or 100 percent DV; selenium, with 70mcg or 100 percent DV; copper, 1.6mg or 80 percent DV; manganese, with 2mg or 100 percent DV; chromium, with 120mcg or 100 percent DV; molybdenum, with 75mcg or 100 percent DV; sodium, with 410mg or 17 percent DV; and potassium, with 1,560mg or 45 percent DV.

Amino Acids

This supplement contains two kinds of amino acids; L-glutamine and creatine. L-glutamine is a necessary amino acid for the synthesis of protein. In one serving of this product, there is 500mg of L-glutamine, but a daily value has not been determined. Creatine is necessary for your muscles to contract and to produce energy. Although there is no daily value determined, one serving of this product contains 1g of creatine.
