How to Use the Perfect Pushup Rotating Handles

The Perfect Pushup rotating handles allow your arms to rotate during a push-up in much the same way they would when throwing a ball or swinging a golf club. This rotation works the arm and chest muscles more effectively than a traditional push-up, and reduces strain on your joints, ligaments and tendons. The instructional DVD and poster that come with any Perfect Pushup kit will guide you through a variety of two-minute workouts designed to show results quickly.

Step 1

Position yourself in regular push up mode by laying on your stomach. Grip the handles and position your arms so the handles are in a horizontal position.

Step 2

Straighten your arms making sure both are slightly shoulder-width apart. Check to feel that your neck, body and legs are in straight alignment with your ears raised slightly above your shoulders.

Step 3

Slowly lower yourself down toward the floor. The rotating grip should begin to move as you do this.

Step 4

Stop when your chest is in alignment with the Perfect Pushup handles, at which point the handles should be in a vertical position.

Step 5

Reverse your rotation as you return back up to your starting position. Once you are finished your handles will be back in the horizontal position.

Tips and Warnings

  • The Perfect Pushup Rotating Handles are designed to be used in either regular push-up form described above, or in a wide or close-arm formation to help you target different muscle groups. Depending on which form you choose, the handle rotation direction will slightly vary.
  • If you struggle to complete push-ups in regular push-up form, try them with your knees bent on the floor. Test your strength every 10 workouts or so to see if you have built up enough strength to increase the intensity by assuming the upright position.
